Sun Protection Guide: Everything You Need to Know About SPF

Sun protection continues to raise many questions.

SPF30 or SPF50? Do you need to use sunscreen in winter? How to reapply without ruining your makeup? And does a more expensive sunscreen offer better protection?

In this article, we've gathered some of the key takeaways from our SPF Masterclass to help you protect your skin simply and consciously.

SPF30 or SPF50?

☀️ SPF30 blocks about 97% of UVB rays
☀️ SPF50 blocks about 98%

More important than the number on the packaging is applying the correct amount and reapplying throughout the day.

Does quantity matter?

A lot. For face, neck, and ears, a practical reference is the 3-finger rule for product application.

👉 Applying less means reducing the skin's actual protection.

An SPF50 poorly applied can protect like an SPF20 (or less).

Is sunscreen for daily use?

UVA rays are present all year round, penetrate clouds, and even window and car glass.

Therefore, sun protection should be part of your daily routine, whether it's sunny or not.

Reapplication is essential

This is the most overlooked point. You should reapply sunscreen:

Every 2 hours in direct sun exposure
After swimming
After sweating
After towel drying your skin

👉 Without reapplication, protection ceases to be effective.

Which is the best sunscreen?

There are indeed differences between a €3 and a €30 sunscreen, but the sunscreen that truly works is the one you like to use, apply in the correct amount, and reapply whenever necessary.
